Analysis on the gout-related experiment literatures in Korean medicine

Abstract
We analyzed the research situations of 28 journal articles and 17 thesis papers to attract interests and more researches on the oriental gout treatment and furthermore, to provide as the fundamental materials to enhance clinical applications. And we used total 17 experimental papers about studies on gout out of all the papers published in the domestic journals of oriental medicines for the investigation of this research. The results are followed£» 1. In the classification by pathologic models, there were 10 experimental papers that induced gout in Spague-Dawley rats by MSU for the most. 2. In the classification by experimental design, the majority was 12 papers of in-vivo experiments followed by 5 experiments of in-vivo and in-vitro combined. 3. In the classification by treatment method of experimental group, the majority was 11 papers of experiments using oriental medicines followed by 4 papers of acupunctures. Out of 11 papers using oriental medicines, 6 used the single compound, 4 used the mixture, and 1 used both the single compound and mixture. 4. In the classification by the basis for the experiments, 12 papers used literatures followed by 4 using antecedent studies. 5. Out of total 17 papers of experiments on gout, only 5 showed the significant decrease rate of plantar tumentia. 13 papers showed significant decrease of uric acid in serum. 4 papers showed significant decrease of uric acid in urine. All of 7 papers showed significant decrease of xanthine oxidase activity in serum.
